If you write and are reaching the point where you would like your work to get out there into the wider world, then this course will help you to reach that new level. This course is for all styles and all ages. Les Wicks’ workshops are known for their constructive & friendly orientation. This workshop will have an emphasis on the nuts and bolts of establishing a poetry audience.
A key component of the two days will be traditional workshopping, where three of each participant’s poems are discussed collaboratively. Participants will also benefit greatly from insider’s hints on how the poetry scene works. Poems are examined with a view to finding outlets that fit your style, in addition to intensive editorial feedback. Experience has shown this approach to be highly effective, combining practical information with an artistic dialogue among peers over a solid block of time. Other topics include running your own projects, taking advantage of online opportunities & getting your book published. Everyone who so wishes will have their poems published in an established online magazine.
Student requirements
Please bring 15 copies each of up to three poems for workshopping in the course.
Food
Tea and coffee making facilities will be provided. Course participants are advised to bring their own lunch as there are no cafes within easy walking distance.
