Judith Rodriguez Thursday at Eltham Courthouse

  • A monthly reading by poets and performers from Melbourne and beyond, this time featuring Judith Rodriguez.

    Remember to get there around 7.30 if you'd like to put your name down to read a poem on the open mic. The suggested theme is "hard times". The audience are always attentive and welcoming!

    $5 entry includes wine, tea, coffee, biscuits and raffle.

    About the feature:

    Judith Rodriguez is a well known poet whose collections include New And Selected Poems UQP, The Cold 1994, and chapbooks Terror: Poems 2002 and Manatee 2008. The Hanging of Minnie Thwaites published last year is a long ballad with historical account and lyrics. She collaborated with Robyn Archer on the play Poor Johanna, and with Sydney composer Moya Henderson on the opera Lindy, produced by Opera Australia in the Sydney Opera House in 2002. The editor of several anthologies, during the 1990s she edited Penguin Books’ Australian poetry list. She is an Honorary Fellow of Deakin University, active in the Melbourne Shakespeare Society and involved in the work of International PEN. She currently teaches poetry at CAE.
