Rae Desmond Jones’ ‘When a man ages’

 He drinks more
& thinks less

He dreams of lost
Days chasing a ball
With the Sun
On his back

He walks on the beach
Watching young women
Stretching on towels
& feels silly

He talks too much
& when other men leave
He feels ashamed

He watches his death
Rise over the rim
Of the world & hears
It whisper in his ear
Be brave my son
Be brave
